AdBlue In Your Diesel

In Gloucestershire we have found more and more instances of AdBlue contamination where someone has poured AdBlue straight into their diesel fuel tank. This is to a certain extent caused by motorists not understanding the right way to work with it (take note: it is not a fuel additive), and partly because the filler caps for diesel and AdBlue are often directly close to one another on the car.

Now, what's the trouble with putting AdBlue in a diesel tank? Seeing that AdBlue is predominantly ionised water, it's almost the same as putting water in to your tank. Diesel and water will not blend at all and attempting to run a diesel car on water is not going to work. Additionally, the urea is very corrosive to your fuel system lines and seals and is prone to crystalising, blocking injectors and fuel filters.

Water contaminated fuel

Water contaminated fuel, no matter whether it's unleaded petrol or diesel, is generally a significant condition to take care of in a car - especially in modern day common-rail engines.
